Description

Evolution MotorSports CNC Machined Billet Lightweight Crankshaft
For 996/997/997.2 GT3 & 996/997 Turbo Engines

Since we have already developed a 102.6mm 3.8L & 104mm 3.9L larger displacement conversion for the 996/997/997.2 GT3 and 996/997 Turbo engines, we decided to take the next step and build 4.0L and 4.1L conversions. Our 104mm bore 3.9L conversion was designed specifically for the normally aspirated GT3 engines and our 102.6mm bore 3.8L conversion for the turbo applications. In order to further increase the Turbo engine's displacement beyond 3.8L, while maintaining the strength needed for a high power turbo application, we needed a longer stroke crankshaft to complete the conversion. In typical EVOMS fashion, building just a longer stroke crank would not suffice. We had once CNC machined from bill 4340 high alloy steel, and used technology commonly found in 12,000rpm race engines. Our lightweight race crankshaft has been engineered using technology from top level competition engines and incorporates features that go well beyond that of the OEM specifications. Listed below are some specifications that went into building this work of art. Performance... Engineered and EVOLVED

  • Capable of withstanding well beyond 10,000 RPMs

Conclusion:
When we set out to engineer and produce a billet crankshaft we began with a zero restriction, ground-up approach for ultimate quality without any compromises. Besides creating a lighter and more durable crank, we incorporated features which make them on par with race engines that are built on $1m+ budgets. Our engineering and manufacturing process is second to none, and the quality we put forth to have these produces is a first for the Porsche aftermarket.
